Description:
Greenshops was created by two friends
who were
looking for a service oriented website
offering eco-
friendly products for their families.
"We wanted to
create a place with full disclosure of
the products,
where you can shop freely and easily
online, while
having confidence in the quality of
your purchases"
said business owners Sasha & Jennifer.
This is where
the journey of Greenshops began, and
the
commitment to putting a business that
focuses on
the individual, as well as the
environment. Gift

Above & Beyond:
Greenshops is passionately committed to providing "a one stop shop" for all your
eco-friendly needs. Sasha & Jennifer, and a group of volunteers, have personally
tested and approved each product to ensure the customer receives the highest
quality eco-products on the market today. Each manufacturer answers a 5 page
Supply Chain Questionnaire informing us of their commitment to their product and
the environment. In today's world, people are highly educated about the products
they are purchasing and we want to assist in that awareness and offer as much
information as possible. With that in mind, Greenshops has listed the
environmental benefits of each product to ensure that you are fully informed of
your purchase. We are constantly trying to improve our catalog and service, and
welcome any and all feedback to help us improve our business. It is our goal to get
your confidence and support to further our cause.
how do we live green?
At Greenshops, not only do we sell eco-friendly products from eco-friendly
manufacturers, we try to live and breathe green in our daily operations and
personal lives. First, our goal is operating a completely sustainable business by
reducing our carbon footprint as much as possible. After all these efforts, we
purchase carbon offsets for our homes, cars and business, giving us a carbon
footprint of zero. We are constantly looking for ways to reduce waste, conserve
energy, and minimize the amount of resources we use. This is a continuous
process of constantly looking at what we are doing and how we can improve. We
offer warning labels on our shipping boxes that they are not pretty. We reuse all of
our packaging materials as many times as possible. We are proud to say that we
have never purchased one box since opening our doors in 2007. Our gift wrapping
materials and bags are made from 100% recycled content. We do not include
packing slips or invoices in our boxes; we operate almost completely paperless. If
we do offer registry cards or gift messages they are printed on our Elephant Pooh
paper... yes Elephant pooh paper! |

Did You Know:
Most kid’s bedroom furniture is made from pressed wood products. Particleboard is
one of the worst products for off-gassing large amounts of formaldehyde. Here is the
definition of formaldehyde or HCHO: A colorless gas at room temperature with an
extremely pungent suffocating aroma. It is a highly reactive gas, classified as a Volatile
Organic Compound (VOC). The term volatile means that the compounds vaporize and
become a gas at room temperature. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) states
that acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) inhalation exposure to formaldehyde
in humans can result in respiratory symptoms, and eye, nose, and throat irritation.
Limited human studies have reported an association between formaldehyde exposure
and lung and nasopharyngeal cancer. Animal inhalation studies have reported an
increased incidence of nasal squamous cell cancer. EPA considers formaldehyde a
probable human carcinogen. |
