At Brilliant Earth, we are dedicated to tracking our gems to ensure that every single gemstone is mined, cut, and finished in a socially and ethically responsible manner. All of our diamonds come from Canadian mines that follow environmentally sustainable practices and are committed to delivering high quality gems. Our well-established suppliers authenticate the source of their diamonds as conflict free and follow established domestic business practices.
Brilliant Earth is determined to promote sustainable practices by using environmentally responsible gold and platinum. Our precious metals come from secondary sources and are re-refined in order to ensure that they are identical quality to newly mined metals. We strive to reduce the need for additional “dirty” mining by using renewed metals.
Brilliant Earth is proud to give back to local communities harmed by the diamond trade. Brilliant Earth dedicates 5% of its profits to directly benefit local African communities. Through our partnerships with established, on-the-ground efforts, we try to rectify injustices of the diamond trade. Brilliant Earth rings come with a sustainably harvested, hand made wooden ring box made of Rimu, a New Zealand wood. The wood is sourced from a sustainable forest that integrates the perpetual growing and harvesting of trees with the preservation of biodiversity, soil, water, and air quality for generations to come.
Sterling silver jewelry orders are presented in a beautiful Brilliant Earth pouch. All of our printed materials are from recycled and sustainably harvested paper. All packages are shipped using post-consumer recycled cardboard boxes.

Many of the world’s diamonds are harvested using practices that exploit and degrade children, communities, the labor force, and the local environment. Workers are subject to brutality, degrading working conditions, low pay and sometimes death. Consider the facts: over 1 million diamond diggers in Africa are paid less than $1 a day, living in poverty and working in dangerous conditions. Many of the diamond workers in Africa are children under the age of 16, accounting for between 30-50% of the workforce in countries like the Congo, Angola, and Sierra Leone. Local communities in Angola are being tortured by local diamond companies in an effort to force them off the diamond rich land, while the government turns a blind eye. Blood diamonds continue to fund civil war in the Ivory Coast and enter the mainstream diamond supply. Brilliant Earth exclusively offers certified Canadian diamonds. Our conflict free diamonds are mined with ethical and environmental practices. |
